EDG C/C++ Front-End Open-Sourced
The EDG front-end for C and C++ has been open-sourced, according to a report by Phoronix. The Edison Design Group's front-end has long been a proprietary compiler front-end widely licensed by compiler vendors, so releasing it under an open-source license is a notable development for the compiler community. Details about the specific license terms and the reasons behind the move were not provided in the report.
