Sweden's new Air Force doctrine marks a shift from pure territorial defence: if Moscow attacks, Swedish aircraft would be able to strike targets deep inside Russia. The doctrine reflects Sweden's changed posture since joining NATO, with commentators noting it signals deterrence through offensive capability rather than defence alone.

Why now: Tensions with Russia are high, and a NATO member formally adopting deep-strike doctrine is a major strategic shift.
