North Valley rain gauge records over an inch for the first time
Original: For the first time ever, in the many years I've been recording daily precipitation for CoCoRaHS here in the North Valley
A long-time CoCoRaHS volunteer observer in the North Valley recorded more than an inch of rain in 24 hours for the first time in their years of daily measurements. Just under an inch and a half was collected in the gauge by 7am, requiring use of the gauge's overflow feature.
Why now: Unusually heavy rainfall broke a personal record for a volunteer precipitation observer, standing out in a region where such totals are rare
