Ethiopia has publicly accused Egypt and Sudan of backing an alliance against Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, deepening a diplomatic rift between the three Nile basin neighbours. Tensions have simmered for years over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, Nile water rights and border issues, and the accusation signals a further deterioration in relations.
