Thales, Bull and the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) are reportedly collaborating on quantum computing software aimed at military applications for the French armed forces. The partnership links a major defence electronics group, a computing firm and France's nuclear research body around developing quantum software for defence use.

Researchers have used a quantum simulator to observe a process known as string breaking, in which the string-like connection between quarks can snap apart. The finding, reported by Interesting Engineering, demonstrates how quantum simulation can probe phenomena in particle physics that are beyond the reach of classical computers, offering a new tool for studying the strong force that binds quarks together.
