NOAA Fisheries is highlighting a collection of 2.5 million tiny structures that record ocean chemistry over time, describing them as 'perfect little time capsules.' These natural archives preserve chemical signatures that help scientists reconstruct past ocean conditions, track fish populations, and study how marine environments are changing.

NOAA's National Weather Service announced that its Flood Inundation Mapping (FIM) tool, which predicts river flooding, is now available on an experimental basis to nearly 100% of the United States. The expansion means communities across the country can access forecasts showing where floodwaters will spread, aiding emergency planning and response.
