Health insurers are increasingly using artificial intelligence to determine whether patients receive coverage for medical care, according to a Vox report. The practice, already in use by major insurers serving Medicare Advantage and other plans, is drawing criticism from doctors and patient advocates who argue algorithms can wrongly deny needed treatment and are pushing for stronger regulation and oversight.
