Russia fired a large wave of drones at Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions overnight, causing deaths and damage, according to the headline making the rounds on social media. Russian drones struck a market outside Kyiv, killing two people, while three others died in attacks across different Ukrainian regions, according to Ukrainian officials. The overnight drone assault is the latest in a series of aerial attacks on Ukrainian towns and infrastructure as the war grinds on. The deaths drew fresh attention to the continuing toll on civilians.

A Russian drone strike on the Bucha District of the Kyiv region has killed two people and injured three others. Authorities reported damage in two other areas, where a house, a grain silo and a car were hit. The attack is part of ongoing Russian drone campaigns against Ukrainian regions, which have repeatedly caused civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure and homes.

Ukraine has raised the alarm over conditions in Oleshky, a city in Kherson region under Russian occupation since 2022. According to Ukrainian officials, civilians trapped there are being deliberately starved and some have been forced to eat grass to survive. Kyiv is describing the situation as a war crime and is pressing international partners, including bodies in Brussels, to respond to the reports of intentional deprivation of food among residents unable to flee.

Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko said drone debris fell on the roof of an office building in the capital's Podilskyi district during a Russian attack. Officials said strikes over the past day killed more than 10 people and wounded more than 25, including one dead in Kyiv region and four injured, with further casualties reported overnight in the capital.

Air raid alerts were triggered across Ukraine as multiple jet-powered drones headed toward Kyiv and surrounding areas including Kaharlyk, Dymer, Nizhyn and Yurivka. Air defense units were active in several Kyiv districts, among them Zhulyany, Vynohradar, Priorka, Lukyanivka and Podil. The alerts followed a wave of overnight drone attacks that have become routine in the war, with residents urged to take shelter while defenses engaged incoming targets.
