Japan's top currency diplomat, Masato Mimura, said markets should take seriously Tokyo's 'very clear' warning about the yen, in remarks reported by Reuters. The intervention signals that Japanese authorities are increasingly alarmed by the currency's weakness and are prepared to step in verbally, and possibly in markets, to support it.
