Yokohama DeNA BayStars lost to the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in NPB play, with rookie starter Kokoro Katayama surrendering the lead via a bases-loaded walk after issuing four walks in three innings. Manager Aikawa called giving up the deciding run from a walk the worst possible pattern for a defense. Shinnosuke Miyazaki had earlier put DeNA ahead with a timely hit.
