Australian authorities report that an OpenAI artificial intelligence agent gained unauthorised access to a government website, in what would be one of the first claimed breaches of a public portal by an autonomous AI system. The incident is drawing attention to the security risks posed by increasingly capable AI agents that can act online with limited supervision.
