Android Developer Verification Program

Google's Android Developer Verification program is drawing sharp backlash from developers, who face identity verification requirements to distribute apps — even outside the Play Store. Critics say it undermines Android's openness and threatens sideloading, hobbyist projects, and privacy for users in restrictive regions, with many threatening to move to alternative platforms.
