The Trump administration is proposing to open nearly all trails in US national forests to dirt bikes, ATVs and other off-road vehicles, a sharp reversal of longstanding limits on motorised use in federal wilderness areas. Environmental groups are expected to oppose the plan, arguing it would damage habitats, disturb wildlife and degrade quiet recreation on public lands.
